Mr. Kunio Umeda, Japanese ambassador in Vietnam, personally awarded the Certificate of Merit to the FPT Chairman Mr. Truong Gia Binh during the embassy's year-end meeting.
At the ceremony, before awarding the certificate of merit, the ambassador has given much praise for FPT. Since its official business in the country market sunrise in the 2005s, FPT has become a bridge for Vietnamese and Japanese people to become close friends and colleagues. Especially recently, FPT has built the first Japanese teahouse in Vietnam, which is a place that connects Vietnamese and Japanese citizens who love tea ceremonies and contributing to strengthening the cultural exchanges between these two countries. 45 years of Vietnam-Japan friendship with a big contribution from FPT.
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, the award is an honor to the Group, acknowledging the values that FPT has endeavored to contribute to the friendship of the two countries. FPT is a pioneer Vietnamese software export company to Japan. Over the past two decades, through its business activities, FPT has made efforts to make Vietnam a favorite software export destination for Japanese companies, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
In 2005, FPT pioneered the establishment of the first Vietnamese IT company in Japan, paving the way for others to enter this market. Over the past 13 years, FPT has continuously endeavored to affirm Japan's ability to become the most important market for the Group and contribute to making Vietnam become the most preferrable software service entrusting partner for Japanese businesses.
For many years, the revenue from Japanese market to FPT has always remained high, in average about 25-30% per year. In 2016, after 11 years of presence in the Japanese market, FPT reached a turnover of USD 100 million. In 2018, it is expected that sales in the Japanese market will reach USD 200 million, an increase of about 25% compared to 2017.
These days, FPT is the largest foreign-owned IT company in Japan with 1,300 people working in 9 offices and branches throughout Japan, spreading from North to South: Hokkaido, Tokyo, Yokohama, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Okinawa. Furthermore, 8,000 FPT employees in Vietnam are currently working on projects with the Japanese market. FPT expects that within the next 2-3 years, it will become one of the 20 largest tech enterprises in Japan with the sales reaching USD 500 million from this market and 3,000 employees working directly in Japan. In addition to traditional IT services, FPT will continue to promote the provision of overall technology services with higher comprehensive value to its customers: from strategic consulting, design to deployment and security maintenance, particularly in digital transformation projects. Currently, FPT is an important partner in digital transformation for the leading Japanese corporations such as ISE Foods, Toppan, NTT Data, DIR, etc., providing its IT services to about 300 large enterprise customers in Japan.
